The residency is 53 weeks in length with the resident being allowed 10 days of approved educational leave. The resident will examine, diagnose, prescribe and manage a substantial number of patients during the year. The resident will utilize virtually all contact lens designs and materials in both a primary care and specialty/referral context. The program is unique in that the resident can participate in a variety of external rotations during the year, including VisionAmerica of Birmingham.
